How Much Does Pond Cleaning Cost?

When it comes to pricing for professional pond cleaning, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. The cost of the service will vary depending on factors such as the size and condition of the pond, the extent of the cleaning required, the last time it was cleaned, the amount of aquatic plants, and who has been providing the service to the feature. That said, here is a general overview of what you can expect to pay for professional pond cleaning.

What’s Included With A Pond Cleaning?

Professional pond cleaning is about removing all the algae and debris that has built up in your pond over the course of a season. We want your pond to look as good (or pretty similar) as the day it was installed. We call this service a drain and clean and here is a list of what this service typically entails.
  • Drain water in pond, store fish in fish safe aerated tub (if applicable).
  • Thorough flush of pond to remove leaves, debris and sediments (pressure wash rocks and shop vac waste).
  • Clean skimmer and biofilter, rinse and inspect filter mats.
  • Inspect lighting system.
  • Inspect pump and reconnect it to the plumbing line.
  • Inspect the pond for obvious leaks.
  • Refill pond, add detoxifier and other vital water treatments.
  • Reacclimate fish to pond .
  • Turn on pump.
  • Refresh area - straighten rocks out of place, disguise exposed liner and filtration components.
We like to get everything done in one go- which means we will not leave your pond cleaning and start another project until we are finished. Your pond gets our full attention until you are satisfied.

How long does it take to clean a water feature?

A pond cleaning can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days. It depends on the size of the pond, how dirty it is, and what tasks need to be accomplished. If a pond hasn’t been cleaned in years, it will obviously take longer than a pond that has been recently maintained. At Good Earth Water Gardens, we work to keep our customers informed and will let you know how long we think your specific cleaning will take.
