Give your yard a unique fall look

The weather is changing – and our outdoor spaces are evolving, too. Take time to give your lawn a little TLC and add some seasonally themed decorations. Your home’s festive fall look will enhance your curb appeal.
Lawn and landscape care
First thing’s first: keep your outdoor space tidy. Some basic lawn love gets your yard ready for the coming months. And it also allows your seasonal touches to shine.
A few things to consider:
- Pull weeds – Doing this now will help reduce the number of weeds you’ll have come spring.
- Rake and remove leaves – Sure, this makes your yard look clean. But it also helps to avoid damage to your grass. You’ll end up with a healthier lawn next summer.
- Seed and fertilize – Fall is the best time to do this. Summer heat has passed and winter’s chill hasn’t yet arrived.
- Trim smart – During fall months, keep grass two to two and a half inches tall. Cutting it too short or allowing grass to grow longer can lead to a variety of problems for your lawn.
- Water trees and shrubs – After leaves drop, give your trees and shrubs a deep watering. This will help prepare them for cooler weather.
After you’ve given your lawn the TLC it needs for the fall months, it’s time to decorate.
Outdoor decorating
Welcome your guests and wow your neighbors with creative, fall-inspired decorations. Here are some fun options:
- Pumpkins – These squashes don’t have to sit alone on your porch, and they don’t have to be orange. Stray away from the norm. Arrange pumpkins of varying colors and sizes. - Football-themed decorations – Show your team spirit! You can purchase a variety of lawn decorations with your team logo. Flags, yard signs, engraved rocks, and even wreaths are fun ways to support your team and decorate for fall.
