We’re always on the lookout for water feature inspiration. And it’s everywhere! Here are a few of the ponds and waterfalls that we’ve been obsessing over – as well as a few water features that defy description.

1. Floating patio

Not all ponds look alike – how you personalize your water feature is only limited by your imagination. That’s why we love this little getaway in the middle of an Eastern-inspired garden.

According to DIYNetwork.com , this pond was created by Mom’s Design Build. It’s not what you’d expect to find in Minnesota, but each step towards the patio transports you to another world.

2. Vacation destination

You can’t blame us for fantasizing about getting out of town this winter. We love to travel to see waterfalls, grottos, streams – you name it, if it’s water, we love it. But there’s a town in Holland that’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen. The streets in Giethoorn are canals. This quiet little town is often called “Dutch Venice,” but the loudest noise is often birds. That means that visitors and residents alike can fully appreciate the sights and sounds of the surrounding water. We especially love how homeowners use landscaping to embrace their giant water feature and unite land and water.

3. Dream house dream yard

New construction can often mean plain ol’ grass in the yard – and not much else. But it doesn’t have to be that way!

We are completely enamored with how these homeowners created a backyard oasis that feels like it’s been there a long time. According to HGTV.com , the design wraps around the entire backside of this home. And it includes a small waterfall and a fish pond.

We’re especially psyched that they used a mix of big boulders, medium-sized rocks, and small pebbles to create a water feature that looks natural. And the use of larger plants makes the landscape look mature.

4. Mountain getaway

So, if you’re looking to buy a house in Tahoe, have we got a deal for you! This rustic mountain lodge is currently on the market, and we’re sure the house is nice. But the stream that surrounds the home is incredible! According to the listing , “a calming water feature winds through the property and can be heard from the various outdoor spaces surrounding the home.”

This is a gorgeous example of natural design. Water features can be created to enhance both a home and the land surrounding it. And for a mere $2.975 million, this gorgeous stream – and house – can be yours.
